Mary Tyler Moore
The Mary Tyler Moore Show was one of the most literate, realistic, and enduring situation comedies of the 1970s. Mary Richards was the idealized single career woman. She had come to Minneapolis after breaking up with a man she had been dating for four years. Ambitious, and looking for new friends, she moved into an older apartment building and went to work as an assistant producer of the local news show on television station WJM-TV. In her early 30s, Mary symbolized the independent woman of the 1970s.
Georgette gives birth at Mary's apartment with Lou and Mary attending. Ted and Georgette have a little girl named Mary Lou, the most exciting thing to ever happen in Mary's bedroom according to Sue Ann.
Mary tries to sell an article she wrote to a magazine and is not happy with the feedback she receives from Lou.
Sue Ann's sister gets an offer to do a rival cooking show in Minneapolis.
Mary's choice for the new sportscaster is a former swimmer who only reports on swimming events. Lou insists that she fire her.
After a heart attack, Ted discovers how precious life is.
Lou makes Murray a co-producer after he gets an offer from another station. Mary is not happy about this situation.
Ted and Georgette find out that their son is a genius who tries to take advantage of Ted.
Mary's lawyer is taken with her when he is defending her on a contempt charge.
Lou is thinking of proposing to Mary's hard-nosed newswoman Aunt Flo.
The word is out that Murray is a sure thing to win at this year's Teddy awards.
Lou is concerned about Mary's possible addiction to sleeping pills.
An attractive journalist tries to seduce Ted at a convention.
The newsroom staff threatens to quit if there are not any pay raises.
The new Six O'Clock News critic starts attacking the residents of Minneapolis.
Lou wants to return a favor to an old Army buddy, but balks when he asks for a date with Mary.
Ted and Georgette do a show that becomes a hit, but Georgette would rather stay at home taking care of her family.
After Sue Ann Niven's Happy Homemaker show is canceled she gets a job in the newsroom.
Gordy the former WJM weatherman now a network star returns and Ted hopes for a job.
Without knowing it, Mary accepts a date from Murray's father.
Ted refuses to give Murray credit after an article he ghost writes for Ted becomes popular.
After a long day Lou, Murray and Ted have a drink and fantasize what it would be like to be married to Mary.
Mary hopes that finally she'll have one dinner party that is not a disaster. Tonight Johnny Carson is going to make an appearance and then the lights go out.
Mary asks Lou out for a date after Georgette suggests it.
In the upside world of WJM, there's a shake up in the newsroom and everybody but Ted gets fired including Mary who is left to turn out the lights.
