In Las Vegas, as they watch from the stands, a stock car racer friend of Pete, Linc, and Julie is killed when his car flips over and explodes. Though at first reticent, Greer reconsiders lets the three stay and investigate, as they suspect the crash was not an accident. Linc poses as a racer and Pete as a mechanic. When they check the car they find their hunch was correct.

Julie's estranged mother suddenly shows up and tells her she is getting married. Unfortunately Pete and Linc know something about her future step-father.

A former syndicate boss is being transported by plane to meet with the Governor with the Squad undercover as the flight crew.
