Plot

Lying critically wounded in hospital, Sean Varma tries desperately to decipher how he has come to be there, but his trauma prevents clarity and pushes him instead to recollect his fragmented life. A child of grandparents from four different cultures Spanish, Irish, English and Indian he survives an abusive childhood and goes on to experience Calcutta at war with itself. The best years of his childhood are spent dealing with a violent, alcoholic and womanising father who can t keep down a job. Left to fend on his own, Sean has to come to terms with the person he has become. His journey leads him across the subcontinent to the apocalyptic moment that will change him forever, and help him make peace with his life.
