Mr. Terrific is trying to save Sentinel's life in the JSA infirmary, while Hawkgirl and Star-Spangled Kid have to deal with Shiv, Tigress, Icicle, Blackbriar Thorn, and Thinker in the rest of the HQ. Count Vertigo is taken down by Black Canary and Dr. Mid-Nite, Flash races Rival to the Speed Force, and Sand beats Geomancer and Killer Wasp in the sewers of New York. Black Adam has taken Wildcat in order to talk to him about something. Sand, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Black Canary combine forces and race to upstate New York, where Louis Sendak lives. They enter the Doorway to the Subtle Realms there, finding Sendak being consumed by something, while Johnny Sorrow watches. Sorrow shows Dr. Mid-Nite his face, and Mid-Nite falls to the ground dead.
