Midnighter strikes a deal with the Time Cops and returns to the present with the 6 year old Paulus whom he threatens to kill, forcing the mature present Paulus to remove the bomb in Midnighter's chest or face extinction. Once removed, Paulus is killed and the child returned to the correct time zone.
