In Western countries, people are bombarded with explicit information and images about sex to such an extent that it is difficult to avoid exposure to such material. In view of this, it might be expected that from a relatively young age everyone would be well informed about matters concerning their sexual and reproductive health. However, surveys reveal a somewhat different story and on a personal level, many people may be quite ill informed about this important aspect of their own health.The saying 'to be forewarned is to be forearmed' could have been invented with sexual and reproductive health in mind. The purpose of Sexual Health is to review and present, in a straightforward manner, the information that we all need to know in order to safeguard, not only our own sexual and reproductive health, but that our family and those who are closest to us.
