Plot

It is a matter of historical record that Wallis Simpson, as the Duchess of Windsor then was, fled from Britain under cover of darkness almost on the eve of the abdication. It is also fact that the King who loved her was unaccountably "not available" that weekend even to his own brother, the Duke of York (later GeorgeVI). A faded manuscript discovered by chance half a century later gives a uniqued insight into the events of that "lost weekend" . ... a journal that begins with the startling words, "I have resolved to kill Mrs. Simpson". Based on that faded journal and other contemporary sources, the author has reconstructed the events of those dramatic few days in 1936 when a would-be assassin sought to prevent the king from adbicating, by killing the woman he love.
