the story of a friendship
Product Description Women?s lives in the early 1970s are beautifully depicted in Karen Lavut?s poignant but unsentimental portrayal of her relationship with painter Christiane Pflug, who killed herself at Easter, 1972. Lavut?s presentation is both blunt and loving, searing and lyrical; partly a lament for a lost friend, this book is also a celebration of joy and the fullness of memory. About the Author Karen Lavut, author of Simple Things: The Story of a Friendship, a memoir of Christiana Pflug, was born in South Africa and then emigrated to England; she came to Canada in 1969. The author of an internationally published children's book and (with Martin Lavut) an award-winning children's audiotape, she lives in Toronto with her husband, Martin Lavut, and her daughters, Kate and Marinda, where she writes, teaches writing, and plays the clarinet.
