Psycho-Pass
The series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term "Psycho-Pass" in the anime's title refers to a standard used to measure an individual's being. The story centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kougami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.
Inspector Akane Tsunemori takes on her first case, which involves a man who kidnaps a woman and holds her hostage.
Recuperating from Akane's Paralyzer shot and the fallout from her first case, Kogami worries she's not inspector material.
Ginoza, Akane and the Enforcers investigate a suspicious death at a drone manufacturing plant.
When the CID investigates Kimihiko Hayama's disappearance, they not only discover that he's been killed, but someone has taken over his net avatar.
The CID's hunt for Kimihiko Hayama's killer leads them to another murder with the same modus operandi. Now it's up to the CID to figure out how to track down the killer's real identity and get justice for the victims.
Akane wants to learn more about Kogami's past and why he's an Enforcer, while CID detectives investigate the Hachioji Drone incident.
Ginoza realizes that the recent murders and the Specimen Case are related, and only one piece of evidence exists: a blurry image of Makishima.
Kogami determines that the girls' school killer isn't the same murderer from the years-old unsolved case, but is actually one of the students.
While attempting to track down Makishima, Kogami takes Tsunemori to his former teacher for a crash course on criminal profiling.
Makishima and Senguji attempt to trap Kogami in an abandoned subway station using Akane's friend Yuki as bait, but all doesn't go as planned.
Akane goes after Makishima alone after he captures her friend Yuki - but, to her shock, Akane finds that her weapon is useless against him.
In an episode taking place three years prior to the beginning of the series, guitarist and latent criminal Yayoi is enlisted by then-Inspector Kogami.
The head of the Public Security Bureau, Joshu Kasei, orders Ginoza to capture Makishima, despite him being "criminally asymptomatic".
A series of crimes are committed by people wearing helmets that copy the low Crime Coefficients of innocent bystanders.
Footage of the helmet-wearing criminals goes viral, prompting the public to respond with violence, and soon, riots break out.
Akane, Kogami and Shusei trap Makishima in the Nona Tower, resulting in a battle that tests Akane's control over her emotions.
After Makishima is arrested and the riots are controlled, Kogami's interest turns to how Makishima will be judged, as well as Shusei's whereabouts.
When Kasei takes Kogami off the Makishima case, Kogami suspects there is something more to it than just routine.
Ginoza, whose Hue is now a problem, refuses therapy so he can retrieve Kogami and Makishima, who intends to attack Japan's food supply.
Akane contacts the Sibyl System and asks it to withdraw the execution order for Kogami if she accomplishes its request to capture Makishima alive.
As Makishima works on reprogramming the virus, Kogami and Akane arrive at the factory to stop him, which proves harder than they thought.
The series heads to a conclusion as Kogami and Makishima are locked in mortal combat, while Akane tries to stop Kogami from killing Makishima in order to save Kogami's life and uphold the law.
