Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal Vol. 01

The 14 year old Japanese girl Usagi learns she is the mystical warrior Sailor Moon. Starting her day quite normal - late for school - Usagi literally stumbles upon a talking cat that later helps her transform into Sailor Moon, a super hero wearing a sailor uniform. Using her new powers she defeats an evil monster and meets another fighter for justice - Tuxedo Mask, a man wearing a tuxedo.

Usagi meets a new student named Ami Mizuno, a genius girl who gets perfect grades and attends the Crystal Seminar. Later on, however, it is revealed that she is Sailor Mercury.

A young woman named Rei Hino possesses exceptionally strong spiritual powers and attracts attention to mothers who angrily accuse her as the one responsible for abducting their children due to her ability to detect supernatural activity.

An embassy party is being held by the kingdom of D, the world's largest producers of diamonds, to unveil their national treasure for the first time in public.

Makoto, a tomboyish middle school girl, transfers to Usagi's school. Luna suspects that she may be the fourth Sailor Senshi of their team to find the Moon Princess and the Silver Crystal.

Tuxedo Mask reveals himself to the public, saying that he is a criminal who is trying to find Legendary Silver Crystal.

Mamoru explains to Usagi that he needs the Legendary Silver Crystal in order to regains his memories, which he lost in car accidents that took the lives of his parents, asking her to keep his identity a secret.

As Sailor V's partner Artemis claims her to be Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, Usagi's tiara suddenly changes shape, showing her a brief glimpse of a forgotten memory.

The true Moon Princess is revealed. The Sailor Senshi finally regain their long lost memories, realizing their real identities and their purpose of becoming a Sailor Senshi.

The Sailor Senshi visit the ruins of the Moon Kingdom, and they meet the spirit of Queen Serenity, who tells them about their past lives during the time of the Silver Millennium.

Back on planet Earth, Usagi runs into a young man who greatly resembles her beloved Tuxedo Mask/Endymion.

Beryl states that Mamoru had died and has been ressurected as the strongest warrior of the Dark Kingdom, shaking Usagi's resolve once again. As Ami takes everyone to an alternate dimension to protect the command center, Minako explains to the others how Queen Metalia is the one controlling Beryl, who in her previous life was the one who killed Endymion. Beryl ensnares the Sailor Guardians, but Minako manages to call forth the holy sword to break them free, before the girls launch a group attack to try and break the necklace that sends Metalia's power to Beryl. Though the necklace proves resilient, Usagi's desire to bring Mamoru to his normal self gives the sword the power to break it, destroying Beryl in the process. Afterwards, words appear on the sword, stating it can use the power of the Legendary Silver Crystal to restore the Moon Kingdom, but Metalia has Mamoru steal it, forcing Usagi to chase after him through a portal taking them to the North Pole. As Usagi confronts Mamoru, who has the power of Metalia behind him, the other Sailor Guardians end up having to confront the Four Dark Kings in order to reach her. The Guardians manage to purify the Four Kings and remind them of their true purpose, but Metalia kills them. Learning from Luna that a piece of the Legendary Silver Crystal is inside Mamoru's body, Usagi, failing to purify him with the Moon Healing Escalation, strikes Mamoru with the holy sword before stabbing herself with it.

With Usagi and Mamoru's death, the Legendary Silver Crystal takes its true form before it and the two being sucked in by Queen Metalia, injuring Luna in the process. The Sailor Guardians attempt to fight in Usagi's place but are unable to stop Metalia, who uses the power of the crystal to spread her evil all over Earth. Meanwhile, Luna has Artemis take her to the command crystal to ask for Queen Serenity's help. Despite the seemingly hopeless situation, the guardians sense that Usagi is still alive and call upon the power of the holy sword, using their own life force to awaken Usagi, who survived her suicide attempt thanks to Mamoru's watch. Using the crystal's power, Usagi breaks free from Metaria's grasp and is relieved to find Mamoru is still alive. As Usagi struggles to seal Metalia by herself, the spirits of the Four Knights, whose gems had protected Mamoru from the holy sword, inform him of Metalia's weak point, allowing him to give Usagi the courage to bring out the crystal's true power.
