With the help of his loyal protector Butler, 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, seeks to find his mysteriously disappeared father, and in doing so, uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

My quick rating - 4,6/10. Strangely the same. Anyway, here is the major problem with Disney right now. They are trying SO HARD to make the next big scifi franchise flick. In trying to ram something down our throats, they forget how to just make a decent movie. This story is such a jumbled up mess that I am unsure if they even knew which direction they were going. Kid thief, supernatural beings, fantastic beasts lite? They couldn't decide on one so they just continually tossed things at you hoping something would stick. For me, and most of the audience, nothing did. The main character is unlikable which is a bad start. The editing never really allows you time to take in the few decent looking scenes it has. This whole failed attempt can be tossed right in next to Jack Reacher and Tomorrowland as halfway decent flicks that are NOT going anywhere since Disney is just trying way to hard to make us like it. This strategy doesn't work for Vince McMahon and wrestlers, and it won't work for Disney and scifi.
