Tom Fiorini (Anthony Michael Hall, The Dead Zone) owns a successful construction company. After his long time foreman goes missing, events take a drastic turn for the worse. During the search for his foreman, Tom plummets down a slippery slope of violence and hired hit men, only to find the fire with which he plays is much hotter than he could have ever expected. Director Thomas Farone (Nate Dogg) brilliantly creates a haunting, emotional film with richly layered performances by its multi award-winning cast—which includes a tour-de-force by the late Chris Penn, in his final film. Absorbing and complex, Aftermath is a Cinequest 23 highlight and a stylish noir crime thriller that will have audiences talking long after.

My quick rating - 5.2/10. Do not believe whatever idiot put that quote about "Reservoir Dogs" and "True Romance" on the cover. The only sentence this movie belongs in with those movies is "This movie is not remotely close to as good as...." and that is the only comparison. We have Hall playing the rich business owner, and I will admit seeing him in the asshole role was a bit new, then again, seeing Danza as some aging mob heavy was interesting as well. But aside from the novelty of the casting, the story itself is pretty lame. The late Chris Penn plays the mouthy tough guy on the job site who may have made someone disappear, and when Hall just wants him gone for good, he turns to Danza. But when his muscle proves too little to get rid of Penn, the tables turn. I am not sure if that scene I just mentioned was supposed to be comedy, or what. But in an attempt to possibly be the mentioned flix, which it is not, it just ends up as a mediocre case of Hall's character being stupid and getting all worked up over what may have been no big deal. Oh, the cover says "overreaction," ok, yes, that. If you are a fan of the mentioned actors, which I am a fan of all three, and maybe I am already being biased in my rating, check this one out. If not, then you aren't missing much. (Best of the Best is one of Chris Penn's best)
