Notes

My quick rating - 5,5/10. 1980, gang members MAYBE had a knife. Here common gardening tools works. When about to get into a fight you are required to make a face that looks like you are imitating the monkeys at the zoo. But importantly, a time when returning vets from Vietnam were a hot movie topic (for good reason). Here we have a couple said vets living peacefully in New York when one of them is brutally attacked by a gang that is quite a few steps below anything in The Warriors. When the friend (Robert Ginty) decides to take matters into his own hands for revenge, he ends up fighting more than just a local group of thugs. A fairly typical plot except this one was a bit earlier than the others of such. What follows is very typical with fights, chases and dead bodies. Still wasn't a bad flick at all and the acting may not have been great but got the job done. I will say I didn't remember the violence being this graphic, well, a couple scenes but I always like the lone gunmen takes on the bad guys who think they are above the law. That particular scenario was very much overused throughout the years after this. Steven Segal can say you're welcome to the filmakers here (James Glickenhaus)
