My quick rating - 6,9/10. Been busy, should have some write up soon. Original version review HERE, same qualms but definite improvement even if sooo long. What I do have to say is that if you are a fan of DC and wanted this story to be done right, this is for surely closer. Instead of rushing the development of characters, especially Cyborg, Snyder took the time to give us story with depth to them. I cannot go scene by scene since I watched the original years ago, and lets face it, there are some serious geeks out there that I am sure have analyzed this into the ground. So from me, just the quick review is more helpful. I read they sank a boatload of money into recreating and completely new scenes and I did notice a few. The worlds of Atlantis and Amazonian, Wonder Womans island seemed more formed. Also a mammoth Lord of the Rings type battle to show off the fight from centuries before between Darkseid and the Earth heroes was well done. I don't recall Darkseid being quite as explained as well which did add more to the story that seemed lacking in the original. I still wasn't a fan of Steppenwolf although he looks better now and at least we have a bit more of an idea of what his purpose was in taking over the Earth. I did think Affleck seemed more toned down although I may have been over reacting to him initially so not sure if any of his scenes were actually cut or not. After the movie ended, there seemed to be extra scenes, actually long ones, that were just interjected in as well. One being a long nightmare which let the audience see Jared Leto as joker in a post apocalyptic world alongside Batman. Also the Martian Manhunter slides his way into the story. I think if you haven't seen either, then it is worth your time to invest in the 4 hours for sure. If nothing else, Covid made this movie happen so fans should be happy for that much. With the little bonuses and the fact that it is clearly a better version, I wonder if this was the beginning of a more realized DC universe, or the end of the existing, darker version of it that Snyder seems to be fond of. Guess time will tell.
