My quick rating - 5,3/10. Sequel to aussie sci-fi somewhat hit "Occupation" there is one clearly different thing about this one. The budget. Now this isn't the only thing that makes this a bit better. The point is still a story of coexisting with aliens who are not part of the "kill the humans" group and have switched sides to help. But now there seemed to be a more coherent point as to what is going on. Is the invasion to colonize, or to eradicate was what you didn't really know in the first and now after seeing this, seems it may be both. I still found most of the human characters to be rather vile. Like racists against aliens LOL. The action is definitely an improvement tenfold and leads to some pretty visually impressive scenes. Keep in mind the budget down under isn't the same as Hollywood. So I am speaking of what the creators did with what they had. The pacing was good and admittedly flew by which is a good sign. But ultimately the story itself just fails. It never really got any more in depth and didn't bother deciding what movie it wanted to be. Same complaint I had about the first. Does it want to be "V" or "Independence Day"? For fluff, these movies are working fine but as I said a couple years ago, I wouldn't bother watching again. Yet I say that now, and have every intention of watching the next sequel which they do make sure you know is coming.
