My quick rating - 6,4/10. Pretty solid sequel to a movie that does a very difficult thing. It takes a psychotic killer and turns him into a very broken savior. You know fully well that you should not be rooting for him at any point but you still cannot help but doing so. Stephen Lang returns as just that man but this movie basically washes its hands of the first one completely and begins you onto a new path. I could go into specifics from the first one that is completely ignored which makes little sense but that would include spoilers from two flix, and that isn't my style. Watch both if you want to know for sure and I actually recommend you do just that anyways. So now our blind man is just living a quiet life in some strange suburban near purgatory-like place (Detroit????LOL) when it seems his past demons are catching up with him. The movie does have one thing nailed and that is the atmosphere that keeps it quite interesting. Set pieces may be basic but are so well put together to help further the story. This and the characters that are all introduced each have their own characteristics to really make you switch sides in your support as the few twists and turns get thrown at you. One such character is the blind man's daughter (yep, shaking your head if you saw the first) who turns in quite the performance. Expect to be seeing the name Madelyn Grace in upcoming years since she nails this one. The nature of the first was very brooding and pulled you into every moment while this one moves at a much faster pace making it not very much of a sequel at all. The horror elements are all but a couple of jump scares removed and leans to the action/thriller genre. So while the first half of the flick follows every step you plan to expect from the movie, the second half does the opposite and keeps you glued to the screen. Definitely entertaining and possibly a bit better than I may be saying but overall worth a watch. Oh, and if you were thinking the first time around that this guy seems nearly superhuman with his powers to perform things while being blind then make sure to check that part of your thoughts at the door since now he comes off a lot like Daredevil.
