My quick rating - 5,5/10. Having no idea what this one was about helped. After a botched robbery, the thieves intrude onto a farmhouse to try and hide out but they just happen to pick the wrong family. This plot has been used before but there is some extra thrown in that you would have to discover. Unfortunately, the character development for these people takes the vast majority of the flick so it ends up being a really slow burn. The budget is clearly limited and after a quick look, I also read the whole movie was made in 11 days during quarantine so take that into consideration while viewing. Immediately between the criminals and locals, you can tell something is off, especially with Sarah played well by Katie Lyons. There seems to be some supernatural stuff going on but between the uneven acting of all involved (sometimes downright laughable) and the tedious development of where they are attempting to go, you may lose interest in finding out. And even when you don't and stick it through until the end, you will feel there could have been quite a bit more to make it that much better. For what they were working with, the effects when used were adequate meaning I didn't laugh at them but found them palatable, especially for the budget. Even with an incomplete story with the twists thrown at you, I still felt as though it was wrapped up about as best as possible. Maybe a little less time with the build-up and a lot more time finalizing the actual idea of this "family" would have paid off with a major indie hit but instead, I feel it was surely above average for what they had to work with. I cannot really put my finger on why but it did capture my attention all the way through until the end. Worth a click below for indie horror fans.
