My quick rating - 4.1/10. One reason I grabbed this one, Danny Trejo. But even his sleepwalking act through this doesn't save it. He literally looked bored in most of his scenes. And if you are any fan of the "Sicario" flix with Benicio Del Toro and expecting anything of the same quality, you are going to be very disappointed. This one is based on some true story that I guess I missed? and even though it is, it isn't a very exciting story either. So I suppose the true story of a boring real-life event. Philippe A. Haddad plays an egotistical drug dealer who by absolutely no explanation is a high level American in a Mexican-controlled drug cartel world. I put the backstory aside, as did the filmmakers, and allowed this little tidbit breeze by. In the exact fashion you would expect, he wants complete control and plans to take on another cartel head. That is the movie in a nutshell, so if you want to save time, watch the trailer and go rent Sicario. You'll know what happens in this one AND get to watch a FAR better film. The action in this one is average with a couple of shootouts but they wanted to accentuate the violence for sure. I have t assume the title suckered Trejo in, or the fact he seems to be popping up more frequently in lesser roles. We have seen this act before, Bruce Willis, and it is quite similar. Quick 5 minute paycheck and face on the poster. Let's be honest, every last one of us would do it for the money if we had the chance. Unless you are fairly bored, or just a big fan of Trejo and need to see where his level is these days, you won't get much out of this one. Bland story, graphic violence, swearing is pretty much it for 101 minutes. At times I saw glimpses of hope that just never seemed to go anywhere.
