My quick rating - 4,3/10. First movie for 2022, well from radarr that is. And it is a horror anthology. The first story was quite funny (zombies). The second was just plain awful (new homeowners). The third just wasn't horror and also dumb as hell (Princeton girl). And the final act was again more hitting the amusing vein and not really horror (Frankensteins wife). That is the general theme of this whole production, more comedy than horror which would be fine if there was a better balance. It is unfortunate that to see what is worth it, you start and end with the quality so feel free to fast forward through the middle of this. It starts out with our wrap-around story of a woman finding her famous father's final book after he passes away. Apparently created with black magic on the forefront, the stories themselves as they play out on audio start to occur in real life. Starting with the stand-out, we have a woman that awakens from some encounter as a zombie but refuses to accept it. She goes about trying to survive while still being a good person and saving others. The whole production is really well done with a nifty first-person view from parts of it that work really well. Starting off with this I really had some high hopes. After some pointless nonsense with the homeowners story that you pray they will kill each other to stop their constant sweet nothings. Then the next could've been decent but the girl trying to do everything to impress her Dad was just too silly and stupid. And finally to a good finish with a doctor who accidentally kills his wife and decides to bring her back. But screwing that up pisses her off, so he continues trying over and over with varying degrees of success. And some nicely done cheesy makeup effects. But it wears on a bit too long and doesn't exactly have a nice finish. My advice if you feel the need to check this out. Watch the first story, shut it off and be happy.
