Notes

My quick rating - 5,8/10. I have been a fan of the previous one so looking forward to this one. There is definitely a degradation of quality going on in this series. Typically happens though so not unexpected. But this one is a distant third since it really didn't even feel like it had much to do with the first two. I realize they were attempting to give the story of the society's creation but instead of being a prequel story, we are given a montage of what played out like various scenes stitched together. It was more or less a great-looking scene, or amazing cinematography than a bit of dialogue to get the story back on track to introduce the Kingsmen ideas. This is what is a bit annoying since everything about this flick is well done, performances were spot on, and the visuals were great but too often you are just wondering why the heck they are doing things at the time on screen. In this one, the group is pieced together to attempt to foil a plot to start a major war and the founders of the Kingsmen are united for their first mission. Both Djimon Hounsou and Ralph Fiennes do everything they can to keep you enthralled for it. This is the general framework here but this is all really just background to get to the next action scene or breathtaking landscapes to look at. In all honesty, if everything wasn't done so damn well, this plot would be dragging the whole package directly into sub-4s with just how nonsensical it is at times. Still worth a look and if a fan of the others, plan on being pissed. I won't fault anyone for being even more down on this flick for the same reasons I have pointed out. I am just being positive and remembering the good.
