The Man Who Fell to Earth
An alien who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future.
An alien crashes deep into the oil fields of New Mexico with a mission: to find the one woman on earth who can save his species. Together they discover in order to save his world, they must first save ours. Series premiere.
After the shocking discovery that The Mission is far more complex and dangerous than he believed, and the only human who can guide him abandons him to protect her family and her sanity, Faraday must go it alone.
Justin finally accepts that Faraday's mission is the next step towards her own long-abandoned dream. With the addition of a wild card risk assessor, they embark on a journey that takes them further than they ever imagined.
Secrets are revealed when Faraday, Justin and Hatch are thrust into the billion-dollar, cutthroat world of Big Tech. Hatch and his sister Edie reconnect over the machine after years of bitter estrangement. The CIA tightens its grip as Faraday comes face to face with a consequence of becoming human.
Faraday discovers he's unable to decipher Newton's blueprint for the machine. The mission grinds to a halt until Faraday uncovers long buried truths about the relationship between earth and his home planet.
In what we would call a love letter to his wife on Anthea, Faraday shares with her the complexities of becoming human.
With the CIA bearing down on them, Faraday and Justin decide that going public is their only shot at survival; they hatch a desperate plan to save the machine and ensure the safety of Justin's family, even as Justin's faith in Faraday is threatened.
A wild shootout leaves the entire group in the hands of a rogue CIA operative obsessed with uncovering Faraday's true identity.
Faraday and Justin must battle with rogue CIA operative Spencer Clay for their lives.
Secrets are revealed, only to be replaced by deeper mysteries. Season finale.

My quick rating - 7,6/10. Get to that later, now streaming on Showtime and after episode 2, I am all in. Click the poster for a 7-day free trial to check it out. It will be a crime if Chiwetel Ejiofor is not nominated for an Emmy. The whole cast is actually really good but he stands out as the kid-like genius alien who lands on Earth to save it and his own planet all in one fell swoop. This is actually a sequel to the 1976 movie starring David Bowie but you don't need to worry if you haven't checked that one out (you should though.) This story does have his character Thomas Newton in it but you needn't know that backstory to still enjoy this show to its fullest. The show is very imaginative and it does a great job of using the few special effects in such a practical manner that you really don't even notice them. Each episode leaves you wondering how Faraday, played by Ejiofor, will be able to not only learn to be human and befriend the one character (Naomie Harris) he needs to achieve his goal. The show does a tremendous job of balancing times of truth about human nature and then shifts to comedy so well. And along the way, Faraday in his simplistic take on humans can point out some vastly important moral things in such a way that really makes you think. Overall the show was excellent and consistently each episode was far above average scifi fun that doesn't need spaceships and lightsabers to really capture your attention. Definitely one of the better shows of the year!!
