The company soldier Hannah and the scientists Gavin and Dimitri are researching an algae project on board the Rubikon space station, which is supposed to permanently supply humanity with oxygen and food. But suddenly the earth disappears below them in a brown, toxic fog and all contact is broken off - are they the last survivors of humanity? Should they initiate the safe station, dare the return flight and thereby risk their lives?

My quick rating - 4,5/10. The only place to check it out right now is AppleTV. Being a really average movie, I am not sure you will want to bother. The premise itself is promising as a group of scientists trying to solve an atmosphere problem for Earth are testing algae in a space station. But as they are performing their experiments, among possibly other shady reasons, the group stares down onto the planet and watches it become enveloped in a reddish haze that cuts them off entirely from communication with home base. That was enough to pull me in and it also did enough to make it through without to much complaining. But it ended up being so pedestrian at this point where you really are just wishing something would happen. It also isn't helped much by a minute cast that underperforms in nearly all situations. On the flip side though is everything looks excellent. Interior and exterior shots are spot on which gives it a nice and believable atmosphere even if the science of the whole film is kind of a joke overall. The internal conflict of the female Julia Franz Richter is leading the ship until all of a sudden she transforms her stance seemingly for no reason. The whole affair is up and down like this so much that it makes it tough to recommend or avoid. I personally may have been more entertained if it came up with something from the military angle they throw at us a bit more than they do but I think this is a to each their own type movie. I am not mad I watched it, just wouldn't check it out again so take that info and run with it how you will.
