My quick rating - 7,2/10. Ma Dong-seok (or Don Lee for a more western name) stars in this gritty action flick from first-time Koren director Sang-yong Lee. For a debut behind the lens, it isn't going to get much better than this. The "Beast Cop" returns as this is a sequel to The Outlaws which I will admit, I haven't seen yet. Don Lee may be familiar to some from Eternals where he played the hard-hitting Gilgamesh. In this flick, he plays a South Korean detective who is sent reluctantly across borders to extradite a suspect in a murder case. But he tends to always be looking to stop crime where ever it presents itself and finds himself involved immediately after a killer who has been preying on tourists for years. The movie has a very 90s action feel with the Sylvester Stallone-type character punching his way through his adversaries making them all look weak. The mix of comedy and action is done quite well, especially considering this being a first shot. The fighting scenes are choreographed extremely well and as most Asian action flix, this one also doesn't shy away from the violence. Then again, that seems to be the norm across the board regardless of where. The whole product is a blast from start to finish and I am planning on hunting down the first one. Ever since Train to Busan I have been a fan of Lee for his impeccable balance of comedy with action and this is another fine example of being the right guy to be cast. I will say, he has a knack for picking the right flix to appear in. Definitely, one for action fans to check out.
