Notes

My quick rating - 3,4/10. When the creator of the flick takes the time to put this in his own film synopsis on IMDB, I have to go check and see if the 3,8/10 rating is warranted or not. "*NOTE: This movie's star rating was review bombed by a right-wing snowflake.* As you can see, not only is the 3,8/10 warranted, I think it is overshooting this one. The only review bombing I saw on IMDB was all the 10s which this flick is a far cry from. First off, the 8 characters we meet on Zoom are either improvising which means that 6 out of 8 of them you would most likely punch in the face within 3 minutes of speaking with them. OR the dialogue is scripted in which case, the writer (Ryan Imhoff) doesn't have any idea how people communicate. There is a catch to that, these 8 people may be his friends, and this is how they communicate and quite possibly do punch each other all the time. Oh, he is the "stranger" being the bad guy, now the vanity project comes into focus. The good news is in the second act, they center on Grace (Lanise Antoine Shelley) who is one of those 2 that can actually act. The flick does get rolling into a modern slasher where the members of this reunion chat group are getting picked off one by one, or are they? Considering when this was made, giving kudos for the editing seems a bit strange since they had all the time in the world to do it but it is still done pretty well. Oh, what a bunch of overacting nonsense now. The face immediately turns white like a rotting corpse after being choked. Cute. This flick is separated into 3 acts, and the last one is so AWFUL. All I can call it is a self-centered showcase for Imhoff to possibly audition for a Jim Carrey biopic. Just pointless overacting that does not attempt to make the movie any better. It doesn't really explain the point of the film, and just alludes to the two possibilities of what is going on. No, this isn't confusing but the description is stupid and lazy. I have to admit, the second act did have me slightly interested in where it may go. The stranger character had some development going and I thought maybe that first act was just the director warming up. Not in the slightest, it crashed and burnt so badly after that. As far as some political issues that supposedly people complained about. Nonexistent, more of an afterthought at the end of the long ass ramblings in the thrid act. Overall, Host has already been made and is a far better example of the "zoom" horror which I hope doesn't become a common thing.
