Notes

My quick rating - 6,3/10. Lighthearted and entertaining flick that follows the journey of Ria Khan (Priya Kansara), a martial artist-in-training, as she sets out to rescue her older sister Lena from an arranged marriage. With the help of her friends, Ria embarks on a daring wedding heist, fueled by a desire for independence and sisterhood. While the movie has its moments of fun and likeable characters, it falls short in certain areas. One of its strengths of lies in its protagonist, Kansara. She is a strong and determined character who captivates the audience with her martial arts skills (part of the fun here) and unwavering determination to save her sister. The film does a commendable job of showcasing Ria's growth and her journey towards self-discovery. Her relatability and charisma make her a compelling lead. The movie benefits from a light-hearted and comedic tone, creating an enjoyable atmosphere. The heist elements add an extra layer of excitement and adventure to the story, keeping the audience engaged. The chemistry between Ria and her friends is palpable, and their camaraderie adds depth to the film's themes of friendship and sisterhood. I did like the turn this flick ended up taking towards the end which definitely gave it more to follow since much of it was trodding down a very familiar movie path. While the film attempts to explore themes of independence and societal expectations, it fails to delve deeper into these topics, leaving some potential untapped. In terms of technical aspects, the film is visually appealing, with well-executed action sequences and vibrant cinematography. The soundtrack complements the tone of the movie, enhancing the overall viewing experience. This along with a the necessary amount of humor to engage with since this flick wasn't attempting to be an all out action extravaganza. Overall I found this one to be a fun and enjoyable flick with a strong protagonist and a lively group of characters. I would recommend it for a light-hearted adventure with likeable characters, if that is what you are looking for.
