D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.

My quick rating - 6,2/10. These animated features tend to look absolutely amazing and have also had some pretty decent stories to go along with them. Death Island unleashes a gripping tale of survival in a world plagued by the T-virus, once again bringing the iconic franchise to life in a visually stunning animated adventure. Set against the eerie backdrop of Alcatraz Island, this film takes you on a relentless rollercoaster ride through a post-apocalyptic nightmare. One of the immediate strengths of the movie lies in its visual prowess. The animation is nothing short of spectacular, capturing the gruesome details of the undead and the desolate atmosphere of a world ravaged by the T-virus outbreak. Director Eiichirô Hasumi has meticulously crafted each scene, enhancing the sense of dread and urgency that permeates the story. Naming all those that worked on the visual effects would be a huge list so I will give the director credit for pulling it together. From the decaying streets of San Francisco to the haunting corridors of Alcatraz, the animation immerses viewers in a nightmarish world where danger lurks at every corner. Beyond its visual appeal, the flick manages to uphold the series' tradition of blending action with a compelling narrative. The story is both engaging and unpredictable, keeping you interested as the characters navigate through the horrors of the infected island. The introduction of a new evil, which they always seem to come up with, adds an intriguing layer to the plot, offering fans of the franchise something fresh and unexpected. The characters are well-developed, each with their unique traits and motivations. The voice acting further enhances the characterization, bringing the protagonists to life with convincing performances. I couldn't single out one since they really all do a good job. My biggest complaint here is that of being such a fan. Some moments may feel slightly predictable to us long-time fans of the series, and certain plot developments could have been explored in more depth. Also, the final boss battle was a bit much. However, these minor shortcomings do little to detract from the overall enjoyment of the movie. I just often felt too much of the "seen it before" feeling. This flick still stands as a worthy addition to the franchise, offering a visually striking and adrenaline-fueled experience. Fans of the series will appreciate the film's faithful adaptation of the Resident Evil universe, while newcomers will find themselves drawn into a world of survival horror that is as captivating as it is terrifying.
