Notes

My quick rating - 3,7/10. All I saw was an intriguing poster and Scout Taylor-Compton's name which drew me in. The flick had the potential to deliver a unique blend of comedy and horror, but it ultimately fell short of expectations. The premise of the movie is promising—a group of stoners breaking into a house for a weekend party, stumbling upon a mysterious stranger held captive in the basement. This setup had the potential to create a suspenseful and possibly horrific story. However, the film failed to capitalize on its intriguing concept. One of the flix notable drawbacks was the mediocre acting, with the exception of Taylor-Compton. She brought a level of professionalism to her role, but the rest of the cast struggled to deliver convincing performances. This uneven acting made it challenging to become fully invested in the characters and their predicament. Most of the characters were just poorly rendered stereotypes that didn't bother utilizing the humor potential they instinctively have. The movie as a whole struggled to find its tone. It wasn't funny enough to be a successful comedy, and it lacked the tension and scares required for a compelling horror film. This identity crisis left the movie feeling disjointed, unable to provide a coherent and satisfying viewing experience. The special effects also left much to be desired. Instead of enhancing the atmosphere and creating a sense of dread, they often resembled amateurish social media filters. These lackluster effects undermined any potential for genuine horror and immersion, further detracting from the overall experience. If you get suckered in by the intriguing premise and the poster, prepare to be disappointed by a movie that fails to deliver on its promise, offering a mix of mediocrity that leaves much to be desired
