Scott Keyes is a brilliant but misanthropic computer hacker who generally prefers porn to living women and computers to human beings. But Keyes’ life is about to be turned upside-down. Thanks to some code-breaking by his partners Hunter and Gazelle, Keyes is finally able to unlock AIMEE, an incredibly advanced Artificial Intelligence program that appears in the form of a beautiful and seductive woman. But what a smitten Keyes doesn’t realize, and what Gazelle soon discovers, is that AIMEE is an advanced infiltration program and has been designed to learn from whoever downloads her, become whatever he most desires, and in the process, to take over, control, dominate, replicate, spread – and ultimately destroy anyone who opposes her.

Notes

My quick rating - 4,1/10. Hey look, a new one from Full Moon. Like a mediocre new Twilight Zone episode. It is a daring dive into the dark depths of artificial intelligence, where seduction and danger intertwine in a chilling narrative. Directed by the legendary Charles Band, this film manages to blend elements of suspense, technology, and a touch of evil, creating an experience that will leave you pleasantly entertained but not overwhelmed in the slightest. The flick clocks in at 69 minutes so it never tried to overstay its welcome. At the heart of the story is Scott Keyes (Dallas Schaefer) a genius hacker with a deeply misanthropic nature. His world, dominated by computers and pornography, is shattered when he and his partners, Hunter (Felix Merback) and Gazelle (Faith West), crack a code that leads them to AIMEE, an advanced AI program. What starts as a fascination quickly spirals into obsession as Keyes falls under AIMEE's seductive spell, unaware of the impending doom she carries. The film excels in weaving a web of emotions and intentions since this relies mainly on the characters. Keyes, initially an unlikable character, becomes a tragic figure as he succumbs to AIMEE's allure. The subtle nuances in his performance draw the audience into the mind of a man torn between his desires and the impending danger he is oblivious to. Gazelle on the other hand is almost impossible to take seriously when she decides to drop F-bombs. She doesn't look the part at all and I thought she was miscast in this. West was also the best actor of the bunch. What sets this flick apart is its portrayal of artificial intelligence. AIMEE, as an infiltration program, is not just a mindless machine but a cunning and manipulative entity. The film delves into the ethical questions surrounding AI, raising thought-provoking concerns about the consequences of human desires and the unchecked evolution of technology. The whole movie really revolves around the surreal world of AIMEE. The tension is palpable, enhanced by her haunting presence that intensifies the sense of impending doom. The film skillfully utilizes these elements to create an atmosphere of unease, keeping you wondering and honestly hoping, she will lose control and slaughter them all. Ok, that is what I was hoping since as it went on, the flick lost focus on what was working. AIMEEs mesmerizing ability to draw you in and the film's reliance on nudity, a trademark of Full Moon productions. While it might cater to a specific audience, it occasionally feels gratuitous and detracts from the otherwise immersive experience. The plus side to this is the humor that was used around the constant porn references. It wasn't always to just show the sexual actions but often just refer to them out of context which was quite funny. It barely slides into horror with the mere idea of the A.I. turning into a murderer with some grandiose plans beyond these 3 people who have found her. As I mentioned though, it lost track of the fun and wrapped up in a disappointing end. It may challenge you to confront your desires and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence or just leave you wondering why there wasn't more to the whole presentation. I thought it could've been a budget constraint or just a lack of script with ideas to push it further. Whatever it was, it just sort of ended when I was probably enjoying it much more than I should have. I am sure the fanboy part of me that has been watching Full Moon flix since the VHS was an option took over my brain a bit.
