“In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something,” says Detective Graham Waters (Don Cheadle) after a car crash. His words do not refer to automobiles, but in fact to the complex story-line to follow. A large and talented cast portrays the varied inhabitants of Los Angeles. Each group seems unconnected, differentiated by race, culture and class, yet their fates are intertwined in ways they had never imagined. Fear and hatred reign supreme on the streets of Los Angeles. High class white politicians are car-jacked by lower-class black men. A white working class police officer abuses and intimidates a black movie producer and his wife. A Hispanic locksmith is held at gunpoint by a Persian man who seems to have lost everything. In the face of the tragedy caused by misunderstanding comes the realization that one's differences cannot separate him from the rest of humanity.
