Frank Herbert's Dune
Frank Herbert's science-fiction masterpiece returns in this mini-series that originally aired on the Sci-Fi channel. Duke Leto (William Hurt) is the head of the Atreides clan that has just taken control of the planet Dune which is the only place in the Universe that is the source of spice. Treachery and conspiracies surround his family as different groups, the Merchant Guild, the local Fremen, the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, House Harkonnen and the Emperor vie to control the powerful spice and its production. However, an ancient prophecy will soon come to fruition that will change the course of history forever in ways that no one could have foreseen.
On order of the emperor, Duke Leto Atreides moves his family from his home planet Caladan to another planet, Arrakis, also known as Dune. After an attack on their stronghold, his son Paul and his concubine flee into the desert.
The Lady Jessica and her son, Paul Atreides, manage to contact the native Dune population, known as Fremen.
Paul Atreides, who has become known as Paul Muad'Dib, leads a rebellion against the Harkonnen, who have the secret support of the emperor.
