Feature length big screen adaption of the popular animated television series about shape-changing robots from outer space. As the ongoing war between the heroic Autobots and evil Decepticons escalates, a new menace threatens all. The giant planet-consuming Unicron (Orson Welles) recruits some of the deadliest Decepticons - led by the vicious Galvatron (Leonard Nimoy) - to destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. The mantle of responsibility has been thrust upon reluctant young Autobot Hot Rod (Judd Nelson) who must use the power of the Matrix to unite the warring factions to save their home planet Cybertron, and ultimately the universe.
