The Dead Girl

The movie shares the lives of those who come into contact with the dead girl from the movie’s title. Arden (Toni Collete) discovers the body, bringing unwanted attention to the property she lives on with her ailing mother (Piper Laurie). It also brings some wanted attention from the townspeople, including Rudy (Giovanni Ribisi). The coroner, Leah (Rose Byrne), next comes into contact with the body, and believes it could be someone close to her family. Ruth (Mary Beth Hurt) hears about the body, and believes it could be connected to her husband. Melora (Marcia Gay Harden) is a mother looking for her daughter, and meets a possible friend, the streetwalker Rosetta (Kerry Washington). Finally, we meet Krista (Brittany Murphy), and learn what events led to her death.
