The Proposition

A bloody, violent western drama set in the harsh Australian outback during early colonisation by the Brits. Allegedly responsible for a grizzly massacre on a family of settlers, the outlaws in the Burns brother's gang get hunted down and ambushed by the British Colonial Troops. Many are killed, a few escape. Brothers Charlie (Guy Pearce) and Mike Burns (Richard Wilson) are captured. Captain Stanley (Ray Winstone) offers Charlie a proposition; to track and kill Arthur, the eldest most psychotic brother to save his younger brother's life. Charlie accepts. He is set free to the dismay of a town full of people intent on bloody retribution. Matters escalate as Arthur finds out about the proposition before Charlie has even found him. Deranged bounty hunter Jellon Lamb (John Hurt) adds another layer to this dark tale.
