In 1933, Welsh journalist Gareth Jones travels to Ukraine, where he experiences the horrors of a famine. Stalin’s forced collectivisation of agriculture has resulted in misery and ruin—the policy is tantamount to mass murder.

Notes

My quick rating - 4.3/10. Another venture into the found footage trash bin. But at least this one sits towards the higher side of decency. Mainly because they had a good idea for the story itself revolving around some newlyweds moving in next door to a mysterious cult artist that everyone warns to stay away from. This wasn't some coincidence since they moved there to make some documentary in the first place and got drawn into the lore of Mr. Jones. Then it heads down the same road many others have. Anytime something is going to happen, the camera work completely gets in the way. People need to realize when making these movies, if we are going to believe that whatever in the hell is happening to you, up to the point of you dying, you will NOT drop the camera, then we at least deserve to be able to see what you want. So suspending belief that anyone in their right mind would drop the fucking thing to have both hands in saving their own life is a part of this crap, so film it steady. There are a few decent scares but some scenes were truly pointless (must be a rule that impossible to see forest scenes are required). Overall though, aside from the usual issues I did get through this one and wasn't pissed off which is a step in the right direction.
