Notes

My quick rating - 5,1/10. It really is not a good movie in the slightest. I am not sure if the movie itself was even being serious or just one big joke on Hollywood with Herschell Gordon Lewis flipping them the bird. The plot just repeats itself over and over before I think they just got bored and ended it. Just a sleaze ball private detective hunting down a serial killer that dispatches of the victims in disgusting manners. The nudity and sexual situations are suited for TV now, so the X rating was from the gore. Which was pretty tame as well but maybe for then it was a big deal. It is more the bowel noises and squishing of props to over indulge the senses. So why a decent rating? I think the movie is so self aware of itself that poking fun with horrible acting while touching about serious subjects (Vietnam war trauma is obvious) is a classic way to solidify this ones cult status. But even if it was in its time, this fact is updated "The film was refused classification in Australia by the Office of Film and Literature Classification upon its review in 2005 and remains banned in the country."
