My quick rating 5,8/10. Bishop (Jason Statham) is back, retired, but back. This film uses the fairly tired yet usually effective, "retired, but drawn back in" storyline. Being a highly sought after assassin tends to lead to some problems for Bishop. As expected, a bad guy comes calling (Sam Hazeldine) and has a job for him. The delivery of the message comes by way of Jessica Alba, which is always a treat. Of course, there is your fall in love, obligatory romance that needs to be thrown in. Well, the job is simple: Kill 3 targets that happen to be guarded in very difficult places. This leads us to insanely elaborate action sequences that tip the scale of reality plenty. But that is why we watch, not for the sensibility of it. The locations used, and film work to add to the visuals is stunning. That is for sure. I am sure you can guess this entire movie before even seeing it, so I won't bother any further explaining. Flix such as this are meant for watching in awe and disbelief. Escapism if you will of all the things you can't do, and places you will not visit (yes, I have been to Sydney, but I doubt I am going to see a pool hanging out from a skyscraper 57 stories high). It is nothing new but polished action that delivers exactly what it was supposed to. Sprinkle in a very strange looking Tommy Lee Jones with a small yet effective role as well as Michelle Yeoh (criminally underused) to wrap it up, and you have a solid action film that doesn't rewrite the genre but just gives you a good 1.5 hours of action and scenery.
