A big screen remake of John Sturges' classic western The Magnificent Seven, itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. Seven gun men in the old west gradually come together to help a poor village against savage thieves.

My quick rating - 6,8/10. A very capable remake of a classic western. For once, Hollywood didn't destroy the flick either. Solid performances throughout along with the same gritty feel of the original. I say original as in the title of the same name although that was but a remake of another classic, Seven Samurai but enough with the history lesson. Really well filmed locations set the mood of being a bleak, drying up land being defended as the inhabitants homes from greedy land thiefs moving in to take over. In comes the 7 people that will stand up to the tyrants personal army moving in. Good action, acting, casting, basically just an all around good movie. It is hard to outdo a classic but that task just goes without saying. Doesn't mean this isn't worth your time to see.
