My quick rating - 5,5/10. Ok, I am biased on this one. Being into serial killers more than your average weirdo, I have been fascinated with HH Holmes ever since I read "devil in the white city" (expect a movie any year now, Di Caprio has owned the rights for a flick for years). Anyway, this movie is lossely based on him, and uses what he did as the plot for this. Descendents of his still exist and are murdering addicts that check into the family owned and operated half-way house in strange ways. The house (like a giant apartment building) is a series of tunnels, hidden rooms, etc, just like the murder house HH Holmes built. I realized right away at the beginning since his picture was up in the forrier. I doubt many would've seen that. Again, not the average weirdo. So great premise that unfortunately just isn't done as great. The things done aren't explained well and the idea is used as a backdrop instead of the focus. Still is good without my bias since if I based it on that, it would be a 7,5. But it is not, it misses on quite a few things like continuity and scares. But wrap that up with a nice and evil ending, and you have Havenhurst. Glad I watched it since I went in knowing absolutely nothing about it.
