In this documentary thriller, when police raid a house in a city north of New York City, they discover a profoundly disturbing record of one man's ugly crimes. Investigators find over 800 videotapes shot by the killer which present a visual record of his murders in all their horrifying details. Both state and federal law enforcement teams sift through the gruesome images, looking for clues of the slayer's identity, the identity of his victims, and where he could possibly have gone. But repeated viewings of the material reveals little beyond the terrible facts of the crimes, and as the authorities comb through the madman's images, they find the tapes have had a disquieting effect on them.

My quick rating - 5,5/10. I believe this would've been a bit more relevant about 10 or so years ago when the market wasn't as saturated with first person POV movies after the Blair Witch craze. But as this movie alone, it does a pretty compelling job of fabricating the existence of a serial killer through media clips and various found tapes of footage of his murders. The videos themselves are really not all that shocking as far as morbid gore (if you want that, check out Mordum) but are more suggestive in the twisted mind of the killer. Defintely better than most of these types of movies out there as it just seems plausible in the strange videos that are shown, and are not over the top in anything to make it seem "fake". I enjoyed it, but I don't see the massive hype surrounding why it has been pulled from release multiple times for years now. Possibly, there is some truth to the whole thing???? ;)
