Heathers
A pitch-black comedy anthology set in the present day, as our heroine Veronica Sawyer deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers. Based on the 1988 cult classic film.
Heather Chandler rules the high school with her entourage of Heather Duke and Heather McNamara and keeps "order" with a controlled chaos of social media posts and in person confrontations. Veronica Sawyer is caught between their world and her own private angst as she befriends outcast rebel J.D. and begins the decent into poor decisions and life altering choices. They decide to kill Heather C. and use social media to make it look like a suicide. But is it really that simple? Meanwhile at Heather C's in school "memorial", Betty Finn, Veronica's childhood bestie and resident nerdy unpopular girl, pulls the unimaginable - a power move to take Heather C's crown. All while J.D. and Veronica try to keep a low profile.
Heather Chandler relishes in the attention that her fake suicide has given her, and uses the botched prank to leverage JD and Veronica into doing her bidding. Meanwhile, Heather Duke and Heather McNamara struggle to adapt to life in the new regime, led by an insurgent uprising led by Betty Finn, the class valedictorian. Amidst two conflicting parties devoted to mourning her, Heather Chandler makes her grand return.
Heather Chandler launches a suicide awareness campaign and forces her friends to play along. Veronica, fed up with JD's brooding nonchalance, goes on a double date with Heather Duke and two handsome football players, and Veronica finds comfort in her date's simple company. Heather Chandler forces Heather Duke to audition for the school play, only to get some unexpected competition. When Ram surprises Veronica with a romantic second date, JD has to win her back.
Heather Chandler tries to double down on her suicide campaign only to have her brand tarnished; Betty Finn has some suspicions that link Veronica to an unsolved murder.
The world through JD's eyes. Betty and JD are interrogated by the police. JD is hounded with anonymous text messages tying him to his crimes.
Veronica schools JD on how to be a proper boyfriend. Heather Duke and Heather Chandler spar over control of the hearts and minds of the Westerburg student body.
Ousted from power, Heather Chandler decides to swallow her pride and do the impossible. Veronica and Heather Duke encounter a former acquaintance, taking matters into their own hands.
In response to the spate of violence and unrest in their area, Westerburg decides to stage an "active shooter" training drill. Heather Duke, Heather Chandler, and Veronica end up in lockdown together.
As prom looms around the corner, JD and Veronica are moving in opposite directions. She is closer to her friends than she has been all year, while he is trying to use prom to keep Westerburg divided.
Prom finally arrives and JD, Veronica and Heather all struggle to find their purpose in other people's lives. A surprise character returns.
