After a group of Texas teenagers leave prom night early and get into a car crash in the woods, they employ the aid of a nearby insurance agent, who calls in her tow truck-driving boyfriend, Vilmer Slaughter. Unfortunately for them, Vilmer is a sadistic killer with a mechanical leg who introduces them to his brother, Leatherface, and the rest of their twisted family.

My quick rating - 3,5/10. Very much a cash grab with no intentions of furthering the actual TCM story at all. Instead we have the first starring roles for both McConaughey and Zellweger believe it or not. And what a glorious flick it is. Without Renee, this movie would've been really bad. Matt did all he could to drag some life out of his stale character of being the head of the family who works for the government??? scaring people? No idea of the lunatic family was in anyway supposed to be related to that from the other flix, but the blurb at the beginning references them and claims they hadn't been hear of, until now. Aside from Leatherface (or really, crossdresser) there is no connection. The whole movie just bumbles along and really doesn't even give the goods as far as death scenes even. Unless I watched (again) a trimmed down version, the best possible kill is only suggested. Pointless tension between abusing McConaughey and his girl/wife/could be sister lol. Highlight is the elderly couple in the motor home towards the end and the nod to the original. I won't say more and ruin it since I know you are running to see this one.
