My quick rating - 5,9/10. This flick could really go either way in ratings, up or down dramatically. The story is a very "twilight zone" ish idea of a family, consisting of all the stereotypes possible, being stuck in a house for Christmas. And when I say stuck, I mean literally, as when the main couple tries to leave during a family squabble, they find that all methods of leaving have been walled in. In a somewhat quarantine from the outside world, their only method of communication is via the EBS messages on the tv. Reason this can go either way. Great concept and use of allusion to the problems of media, religion, politics...gently thrown at you in a sci fi/thriller type way. Terrible characters that just can't seem to act out how they are feeling or supposed to feel. It might have been deadpan on purpose to feed the TZ feel and b-budget but often they were just distracting. I wouldn't label this as horror, although the thought of being 100 percent stuck with your family with no chance of leaving and being told what to do during a "quarantine" by your tv is a scary thought for sure. I won't stray into spoilers since this movie does a decent job of keeping you guessing even though their are only a few options to chose from. Overall, a nice little holiday flick.
