Notes

My quick rating - 4,8/10. The high praise for this flick are entirely undeserving. A big fault here is the movie is put together out of order. Not the "on purpose" way to be edgy, or keep you on your toes. No, this is just fault of editing scenes literally out of order. When it says 6 months later, I expect the story to change to a future timeframe, not be in the exact same time and part of the story it was a moment before. The movie itself isn't complicated enough to find yourself lost because of it you just don't expect such a massive flaw to happen a couple times in a movie that sits at a 7,1 on IMDB. No, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize ignoring the "Months later" thing and just figuring out what time frame you are in is tough, just isn't needed in this movie. The story itself is a true story about the Murphy brothers who apparently decided to rape and kill a woman in New South Wales. The story itself is well known and is surely more horrifying than this. Focusing on what led the young adults to such a crime is the point of this one but ends up being so boring and irritating since everyone character is unlikable, housed under one roof where they all hate each other from the start. Starting off with the oldest brother arriving home from prison (apparently it is rough in prison in Australia, they don't elaborate on why he was there) and immediately begins intimidating everyone around him. This occurs for about 80 minutes, and the movie ends. Don't be fooled by any such nonsense of acting being on par with DeNiro or the rest of the IMDB drivel I read. The performances were adequate in accomplishing their goal but truth be told, I don't think it was a stretch in depth. And I am not implying that it is necessary for them to go into graphic detail of what happened, but when the movie ends and you don't have any idea what the guy did (drug related since he was always asking about some stash) and also don't know ANYTHING about what he then proceeded to do when the credits roll. Only reason I know what he was ultimately jailed for was because it is a well known case from around Y2K and my fiance knew the story.
