Plot

This 32-page curriculum guide is designed for use with the authors' picture book for young readers, Woodrow for President. It offers teachers an opportunity to expand and deepen student learning in many areas of citizenship - voting, political parties, campaigns, primaries, elections and civic volunteerism. Activities and discussion recommendations are given for use before reading the book aloud to students, as well as follow-up lessons. Many of the activities could also be used in tracking the campaigns and elections of local politicians. Several reproducible work sheets are included as well as a glossary of political terms, a bibliography of related reading materials, and suggested web sites.
