The real joy of dance is the movement--jumping, swinging, kicking, and swaying to music we enjoy. The thrill of baseball is the game--the feel of our cleats clawing dry dirt on the way to first as the voices of the crowd whip together into a unified, pulsing source of adrenaline. To make our math instruction meaningful, we must give our students the opportunity to 'dance' in math. We need to give them mitts and then let them take to the field.
