In compiling the historic background material for the reconstruction of the Casa de Aguirre and restoration of the Old Catholic Convent in Old Town San Diego, our researchers came across a copy of the book you are now holding. It was originally published in 1915 for the Panama California Exposition. With the exception of the cover, the full color reproductions of old San Diego were perfectly preserved. Looking through these pages we were intrigued by two things, the loveliness of the images and the fact that almost every building and place portrayed retains its beauty in the present day.
