Dr. Niko Tatopolous, a researcher studying the effects of nuclear bombs on worms, discovers that while the bombs have had an effect on worms, they have had an even more devastating effect on reptiles. A gigantic lizard created by the radiation travels to New York City and creates a state of chaos. Dr. Tatopolous goes to New York City and works along with peers and the United States Military to try to trap and destroy Godzilla, and after massive destruction, they corner the creature in Madison Square Garden. However, trapping Godzilla does not tame him, and this solution is not the final answer for the problem Godzilla has created in the city. It takes the strength and brute of the US military, combined with the creativity of scientists, to solve the problem once and for all.
