Thirty-something divorced Emma Moriarty (Sally Field) brings her young son Jake (Corey Haim) to a small Arizona town. Working her horse ranch and caring for Jake occupies most of Emma's time, but her new life tends to be a lonely one. After befriending the young divorced, local pharmacist Murphy Jones (James Garner) plays matchmaker. Unfortunately, the bachelors Murphy sends Emma's way are eligible--but that's about the only thing going for them. Widower Murphy just may have his own reasons for hooking Emma up with all those drugstore cowboys. Matters are complicated further by the appearance of Mr. Wrong Himself, Emma's ex-husband Bobby Jack (Brian Kerwin). What will win Emma's heart, Bobby Jack's youth and excitement or Murphy's maturity and tenderness?
