Volcano's: natures destructive power, normally associated with mountain peaks. But what if one errupted under a city? Los Angeles to be specific. Mike Roark (Tommy Lee Jones), the chief of the emergency response team, is about to find out what it means, when at 5.13am, a volcano erupts and threatens to destroy the city. Together with Dr Amy Barnes (Anne Heche), they work on a plan to stop the lava from passing the business districts and into the residential homes. Utilizing everything at their disposal, from buses to concrete girders, they block off the street and see the lava stop dead in it’s tracks – or has it! With underground tunnels to flow through, a new disaster is about to emerge, when the science shows the next eruption point to be under the same hospital that has received most of the casualties of the first eruption. Can they work together and save the city – and his daughter (Gaby Hoffmann)?
