Y Tu Mama Tambien

Julio Zapata (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Tenoch Iturbide (Diego Luna) are typical Mexican teenage boys looking to fill their summer after their girlfriends leave them for a trip to Europe. At a wedding party, they encounter Luisa (Maribel Verdu), the wife of Tenoch’s cousin, Alejandro (Juan Carlos Remolina) and, looking to impress the Spanish beauty, spin a tale about a beautiful beach on the coast of Oaxaca which they plan to visit. They invite her to come along, but she declines. However, after a troubling talk with her doctor, and a devastating confession from a drunken Alejandro that he has slept with another woman, she telephones Tenoch and says that she has changed her mind and that, yes, she would like to accompany he and Julio on their journey. Panicked, as they made up the entire story, Tenoch and Julio seek the advice of their drug-dealer friend Saba (Andres Almeida) about how they might find a place that would resemble their mythical Heaven’s Mouth. After receiving their instructions, the boys collect Luisa and the three of them set out on a journey across Mexico which provides them all with the opportunity for discovery of self, of each other, and of the day-to-day life of the people of their country.
